Tipsters Comp.

Harold Solomons has chosen 3 players from the reduced field of 30 for the Fedex Playoff finale The Tour Championship.

Here is a review of the rest of the season so far.

Week 1 – Our first Tipster was Eamon Murray whose chosen selections came “close but no cigar” on that weeks PGA Tour Event.

Week 2 Graham Day chose 3 players in the HP Byron Nelson @ TPC Four Seasons in Texas. Graham’s faith in  Nick Watney failed to materialise, a bit like his faith in his wedge play from 119 yards :-) .

Week 3 Barry O’Tuama tried to pull one out of the bag in the Wales Open at Celtic Manor looking for Bradley Dredge to finish in the Top 10 or McDowell to do well. Sadly for Barry – Bradley Dredged the bottom of the barrell :-)

Week 4 of our Tipster Competition and our chosen Punter was the highly experienced Tony Reville. I was sure he was going to get us off the mark with F. Molinari @ The BMW alas no joy. He is also probably the only punter to have chosen a golfer who had an 11 on his card on the PGA Tour ( Garcia ) !

Week 5 – What a performance by “Young Rory” in The US Open @ Congressional – simply sublime.

Also well done to our Punter for the US Open Nicky Obernik – who had € 10 E/W of our fantasy money on him at odds of 22/1 to produce our 1st winner of the season – too bad Nick didn’t have any real cash on him.

Week 6 – We are on a streak now – President Peter Gavin went for 2 players on the PGA & 2 on the European Tour – A fine finsih from Retief Goosen saw him placed to win €51.00 for the Fantasy Kitty.

Week 7 – John Nolan our Course Superintendant kept our winning streak going by correctly picking Luke Donald for the Scottish Open and won € 243.75 Fantasy Money for our fund.

Week 8 – The Open Championship at Royal St. Georges – Our Tipster Carol Shatter was hoping Rory could do the double ?  However it was another Northern Irishman who was sublimly cool in winning his 1st Major.

Week 9 – Irish Open Week at Killarney and our guest Tipster was Donal Scott from our Pro Shop – sadly even his potential inside knowledge failed to produce a winnerfor us.

Week 10 – WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone. – What a performance and win by Stevie WIlliams err sorry I mean Adam Scott..Our Tipster Barry Daly did well too winning €110 for our fund with a €10.00 E/W bet on Jason Day at 40/1.

Week 11 – PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club – Shock of the year the man with two names (Keegan Bradley) showed great composure to come back from a triple bogey to win. Keegan first came to prominence when Graham Day starting backing him regularly 5 months ago..alas he was overlooked by both Graham and this weeks Tipster Stephen Molins who went for some more household names..but not even Phil M or Lee W could get up for a place for us this week.

Week 12 Rod Wood came closest to pulling a big winner out of the bag for us, despite great finishes by Vijay Singh and Charles Howell III who both got placed – sadly a number of players also finsihed joint 4th reducing Rod’s overall winnings to a paltry €94.00 :-)

Week 13 – Richard Green who was on a bit of a roll on the golf course after fine wins in the Thur Semi Open and Mixed Comp chose our tips for this week and they included relations of his the brothers “Saltman” both playing in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.  Sadly for Richard the winning streak came to an end abruptly as none of his picks managed to make it into the 5 man playoff eventually won by Thomas Bjorn.

Week 14 – Dr. Richard Brattman ( AKA Dick with the broken down buggy ), chose our tips – 3 from the PGA Fedex Cup Playoff 2nd event and 2 from the Omega Masters in Switzerland. Alas a bit like his buggy his players ran out of steam and never quite made it to the finsh :-)

Week 15 – Stephen Alkins choices for the BMW Championship performed very well and he had two players in the Top 5 winning € 117.50.

AimPoint Clinic

Donal and Gareth are hosting Irelands first EVER Aimpoint green reading clinics on Thursday the 7th of July and Friday the 8th of July. The clinics will be given by two senior Aimpoint instructors John Graham from the USA and Jamie Donaldson from the UK. Whether you’re a professional golfer, junior, or amateur golfer, AimPoint Green Reading will transform your game by teaching you the one aspect of putting which is rarely taught–exactly where to aim.

Mark Sweeney has pioneered a revolutionary green-reading method based on the highly accurate, Emmy Award winning AimPoint Technology seen on the Golf Channel. After going through the AimPoint Green Reading education, you will never again have to guess at how much a putts breaks. Any putt. Learn that putting is predictable and discover the most effective and reliable ways to determine the direction and precise amount of break for any putt, all based on gravity (only works on earth).

For more information on the clinics check out the attached flyer. Or to book your place contact Gareth or Donal on 01-4941049 or edmondstownproshop@mail.com
