We hope you are enjoying and pleased with the new Bunker Designs. They will need time for the sand to settle correctly. In the meantime, we are sorry to report we are having experience of very poor maintenance of all Bunkers by Golfers during Play.
It is your responsibility to Smooth Out Footprints, Ball Marks and any disturbance to the Bunkers that you make during a visit to the Bunkers.
The Course Staff will Rake the Bunkers before play starts after which time it is you the Golfer who must maintain and keep the bunkers in fit condition for play.
It is most unfair and simply very bad etiquette to leave a Bunker without Raking and Smoothing it out correctly.
We will shortly be putting a video on our YouTube Channel showing you how to correctly Rake a Bunker.
In the meantime here are some tips:
- Locate the lowest spot around the edge of the Bunker that is convenient to your golf ball.
- This will be your entry and exit point.
Identifying this spot keeps you from walking down a steep facing (possibly damaging the turf), stepping off a higher rim (leaving deeper footprints), or having to walk a longer distance which would require raking a greater area of sand
- Bring the rake with you into the bunker – DO NOT rake sand until you have played your shot – this is against the rules of golf.
- PUSH the sand toward the centre of the Bunker. DO NOT Pull the sand off the face of the Bunker.
